This is just past news on Jeff.  Now that he's in happy retirement, I'm afraid there will no longer be "recent" news, but I wanted to leave this section up anyways for memories. =)

THANKS FOR THE GREAT FEEDBACK!

WOW... it's been a long time, sorry.  I didn't expect this site to grab so much attention.  It was initially set up for an Astros group I was a part of.  However, due to some great feedback.... i've decided to maintenance the site more often and keep better track of it.  Of course I'm always keeping track of my Baggie.  Unfortunately at this point in his career, he and the Astros organization have come to a crossroad.  It's unfortunate that it has come to this...after all the time and loyalty Bagwell has put into this team.  However, we shall see what happens next.  I'm supporting him 100%.  Bagwell knows his limits and I'm sure he will not do anything to embarrass himself.  We'll just have to see how spring training goes....

Bagwell to undergo shoulder surgery
First baseman expected to miss approximately three months

HOUSTON -- For three years, Jeff Bagwell played baseball with mind-numbing pain after arthritis crept into his right shoulder following the 2001 surgery that repaired his torn labrum....

That  day arrived on May 4 when Bagwell took himself out of the lineup and eventually went on the disabled list six days later. On Sunday, the Houston Astros announced Bagwell will undergo a procedure in early June called an arthroscopic capsular release. Recovery time is expected to take approximately three months, and Bagwell is hopeful he will be able to return to the field late this season.

The Houston Astros' first baseman has been out since May 3. He was placed on the disabled list Tuesday for the first time in seven seasons because of the degenerative shoulder condition that will require surgery, the team said before Sunday night's game against the Giants.

Jeff Bagwell will spend offseason working on batting stance...
There was an article on the  Astros website by Alison Footer, I thought was interesting.  Mainly she talked about his contract and what he was doing this offseason to prepare for 2005 Season:

"He's going to spend the offseason tweaking his batting stance and swing to better fit his diminished upper body strength. He will work to eliminate the hitch in his swing that forces him to drop the bat head and then raise it back up as he tries to get under the ball. Instead, he will adopt a straighter swing and will not squat as low as he has for the last 10 years. If this works, there's no reason to believe he won't be able to contribute as the No. 3 hitter."
